Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) mantan anggota PBB yang berpengalaman dilapangan dan banyak terlibat dalam situasi di medan-medan konflik, ditugasi kembali untuk menemani seorang dokter ahli virus dari Harvard, Andrew Fassbach (Elyes Gabel) guna mencari obat untuk mengatasi zombie-zombie tersebut.

Gerry yang awalnya menolak tidak kuasa menerima tugas tersebut demi menyelamatkan istri dan kedua putrinya agar tetap berada di zona aman. Gerry akhirnya pergi bersama Andrew dan tim buatan PBB untuk mencari asal virus tersebut berasal dan mencari vaksin sambil berharap menemukan jawaban atas bencana yang mengancam populasi umat manusia dimuka bumi (Oleh Evelyn Afnilia)
